Francisco de Cárdenas to Retire as Managing Director of Bahamas Waste

Jun 30, 2025

It is with mixed emotions that we announce the upcoming retirement of Mr. Francisco de Cardenas (Franny), Managing Director of Bahamas Waste, effective July 9th. After 27 years of exemplary service and leadership, Mr. de Cardenas will be stepping down, having requested early retirement—an arrangement approved by the Board.

Throughout his tenure, Mr. de Cardenas has played a pivotal role in shaping Bahamas Waste into the successful organisation it is today. Under his guidance, the company evolved from a modest operation with fewer than a dozen trucks to a publicly traded industry leader, now operating a fleet of 55 collection vehicles and five support vehicles. His strategic vision has driven expansion into new service areas, including residential waste collection, portable sanitation solutions, and medical waste management.

On behalf of the Board of Directors, we extend our deepest gratitude to Mr. de Cardenas for his outstanding contributions and unwavering commitment. His legacy of growth, innovation, and operational excellence will continue to influence our company for years to come. Effective immediately, Ms. Jasmine Davis, our Chief Financial Officer, will serve as Acting Managing Director. Please join us in congratulating Mr. de Cardenas on his retirement and thanking him for his exceptional service. We wish him continued success, health, and happiness in his future endeavors.
